One of our cats loves this while the other one ignores it. We have hard wood in the hallway and the cat likes to knock it down the hallway. The ball is hard and it rolls hard and fast on the wood. Giving it a 5 star because our grandson loves it. One of his favorite toys when he visits. He also likes to smack it down the hallway and hear the noises that it makes. The ball is sensitive and when make noises when you just walk on the floor. Bought a second one because the cat keeps knocking it down the basement steps and I fear that it will break. This is a cool and different toy, my cats just didn't care for it. I'm not sure our makes 20 different sounds. Mine only says one "human" phrase and I can't understand what it is saying. It's true it doesn't have an off switch and it is high pitched and annoying if you accidentally bump it.Flash forward to today: I am fostering a small dog and she loves it! She is on crate rest for an injury, and it really helps with boredom/mental stumulation. If you are able to purchase this for a discounted price, I say go for it. If your pet doesn't like it, please donate to a local shelter. This company makes several different versions of this toy, so check those out as well.I was actually surprised my cat didn’t like this more than she does but unfortunately My kitty can take it or leave it.... Tink, my kitty, is very playful & loves most toys. However, she’s a spoiled, only kitty so she can be a lil picky & an indecisive kitty sometimes so I don’t blame the toy. She likes toys geared more toward human/kitty interaction. I assume that’s bc she has nobody but humans to play with.Im gonna give a lil background that may explain why & whether or not ur cat may or may not care for this ball....First of all, I’ve never been a “cat person” I’m a “dog person” but I’m also an animal lover & at that time I had no pets at all so when I saw this poor baby in need of a good home I rescued her without any reservations. Unfortunately she was abandoned so young that she shouldn’t have even been taken away from her mama cat yet therefore I quickly became her Fav companion, her stability, her comforter, her safe haven, her best friend, her Protector, her food source basically her mommy.... But she also became most of Those things to & for me as well. I believe We rescued each other. My only human child is 24 yrs old so I have no babies & no children at home anymore so She is now a HUGE part of our family & quite honestly our world basically revolves around her & her needs & her wants & how everything she does is just the cutest thing ever, SHES SPOILED! All that being said, under normal circumstances where a kitty was able to be with it’s mama cat for the Necessary time needed b4 being taken to a new home, enough time so that it’s old enough to gain a lil bit of independence outside of its human family or even if the kitty lives in & grows up in a multiple cat household to where it has other cats to play with, I think most cats would love this ball & I definitely think it’s worth the $ & worth giving it a shot... Especially if your cat sometimes enjoys playing by itself. My Tink Tink isn’t by any means unhappy, in fact I’ve never seen her unhappy unless her food bowl becomes empty b4 she’s ready to stop eating (did I mention she’s a bottomless pit & LOVES to eat??) however, I do worry that she may be missing out by her not having another kitty to play & interact with therefore I’ve actually began feeding & making friends with the stray cats in my neighborhood & once they trust me enough (it has taken months with some of them) I have taken them one or 2 at a time to get their shots, wormed, treated for fleas & gotten them fixed just so that I can occasionally allow them to come inside & play so that she doesn’t miss out on anything in her 9 lives ;)... So far she has made friends with a couple cats & the outside kitty’s seem to enjoy this ball very much, it is one of the few toys Tink allows them to play with, she doesn’t like for me to interact with them (jealousy) and her fav toys are off limits & she isn’t sad when it’s time for them to go back outside.... She seems very happy to be the spoiled queen of her castle & alone with her best friend & human mommy which is me! I Know some of what I’ve wrote may seem a lil off subject but I felt it was necessary to give you an idea of how & why my kitty feels the way she does about this ball & also how the outside kitty’s feel about it too....I hope this helps! My dog tears everything apart in minutes..this one he can't seem to tear apart. He loves the noises it makes. GREAT toyI liked that it shut off when my kitten wasn't playing with itThis ball is the bane of my existence. I never knew I could hate a cat toy as much as I hate this. My cats don't even like it.What's so bad about it? The ball itself is a nice sturdy little product with a clever production idea. The sound quality is perfect. Too perfect. It Never Shuts Up. If I so much as breathe in its direction, it goes off. There's no off switch. It wakes me up in the middle of the night and all I can think of is whether I should smash it with a hammer or take it apart with a screwdriver. My cats occasionally glance at it. If the noise startles them, they might bat it to investigate before getting bored and leaving. That could of course just be a "them" thing, and other cats might like it. Mine, however, aren't interested. The closest I got was by sticking it under a blanket because cats love to kill anything that's beneath a blanket. I think one cat did miraculously play with it unprompted for like two minutes once which was my glorious moment of rejoicing that it was at least played with once before she got bored and left it.In conclusion, it's not for my cats, and it's definitely not for me. The lack of an off switch fills me with absolute rage, and I have resorted to hiding it in closets and beneath furniture to mute it.Study plastic ball has no on/off switch but after hearing a few sounds, the volume wasn't obnoxiously loud. From other reviews I was hoping for a frequent cacophony of sounds but disappointingly, I have to manually knock the ball around to get any sounds out of it. I tried moving it around to multiple high traffic areas with 3 cats passing by and no sounds at all. They all perk up when I force the ball to make sounds. I don't know if I have a defective product but I would have been satisfied with a lot more sensitivity to trigger the sounds.A lot of people don’t like this toy because of the strange high-pitched sounds it makes. That’s what I love about this toy—-it’s cute and quirky. The only problem is since I bought mine they’ve doubled price. Yeah that’s ridiculous. We have had it 11 months now and the battery has not needed changing. Man, I love it—-it’s just a hoot.Fantastic little toy. My kitten is blind, so I wanted a toy that would make noise so she could find it. Once you touch it, it chirps, meows, purrs, you name it. Then, after a few seconds of inactivity, it stops. This is just enough time for my kitten to lock onto its location and go in for the kill, instead of losing it like her other toys. It's also sturdy, so it won't break easily.I will say it's a bit loud, but a little tape over the speaker solves the problem just fine.Overall, a good purchase, especially if your pet has sight issues.Bought a babble ball for my little kittens over ten years ago and it always made us smile because it's so loud and cheeky, and great as a burglar alarm! But sadly it stopped working last week when I vacuumed it. I was so disappointed! So immediately ordered a new one, still being sold! But it's not as loud as the old one, sound holes are closed by the plastic unlike the old one, but still worth it.I gave this to my cat Mickey yesterday & after initially high tailing it in the other direction now he loves pushing it around to hear the various sounds. Great success. It's quite a big, loud and obnoxious ball. It's solid plastic, so if you've hard flooring, it's going to make quite a row as it rolls inelegantly across the floor yelping, hollering and howling. My bengal is not at all interested in it.That said, if you've got a carpeted floor and your cat likes a loud noise in its interactive play, then I think it's a good product - it's certainly well made (if a little too heavy for most cats).Bought this for my new kitten but my seven year old German Shepherd has claimed this as his own. He carries it around everywhere and drops it on our laminate floor. So far it has survived really well so delighted to recommend this babble ball to anyone thinking about getting one.
